Women’s role in developing Global Economy
Empowering Women towards an Effective Partners in the Development
Overview:
Women grow 80% of all food produced, But rarely hold title to land
Constitute 1/3 of wage labor force worldwide, but much are unpaid.
Dominate informal sector of economy but not reflected in the statistic which can be 25% increase of GDP.
Support families, family planning
Women’s Role:
Economic Empowerment - should women held more important position: equality, proportion, skills
Political Empowerment – Equitable representation of women in decision making structures, both formal and informal and their voice in the formulation of policies affecting their societies.
Economic Participation:
The economic participation of women – their presence in the workforce in quantitative terms – is important not only for lowering the disproportionate levels of poverty among women, but also as an important step toward raising household income and encouraging economic development in countries as a whole.
